Description
Counting collections is one of the most powerful routines in early maths. These free recording sheets give kindergartners a clear, structured way to count, organise, and record their collections. Teachers can use them with any countable objects, such as bears, tiles, or buttons. Each sheet guides students through the counting process from start to finish.
The 15 sheets cover five number ranges: 1-10, 1-20, 1-30, 1-40, and 1-50. Three distinct designs also match the recording format to where students are in their counting development. Simpler sheets use ten frames for smaller collections. More advanced sheets, however, include a number grid, tens and ones recording, and odd/even identification. As a result, students at different points in their counting journey can all join the same routine.
In addition, the sheets fit easily into a page protector for use with a dry erase marker. This makes them reusable and simple to prep. Students count their collection, arrange the objects on the sheet, and then record their total. The format is straightforward, so kindergartners can use them independently at a maths centre.
Counting collections works well as a whole-class warm-up. It also suits regular centre time. These sheets make it easy to establish the routine and keep it going with minimal preparation.
