Description
These free CVC True or False Clip Cards build CVC word decoding and successive blending skills.
Each card presents the word in a step-by-step pyramid blending format. Students say each sound and blend progressively. They start with one sound, then two, then the full word. This trains the successive blending skill that accurate readers rely on.
After blending, students check the picture. They clip thumbs up if the word and picture match (true) or thumbs down if they don’t (false). The false cards pair the word with a picture that shares sounds, like “map” for “mop.” Students have to decode accurately. Guessing from the picture won’t work.
These cards work well alongside any CVC word program or phonics center rotation.
