Fall is filled with an array of beautiful colors, seasonal signs and traditional activities which children look forward to each year. From watching the leaves change color and fall, to visiting the apple orchard, Fall is a season filled lots of activities and teaching opportunities. For our young learners, I have created the free My Book of Fall Words printable to introduce them to common signs and symbols of Fall.
With the My Book of Fall Words printable, children make their own booklet of common Fall words. The words covered by the printable include apple, crow, scarecrow, squirrel, leaf, tree, rake, pumpkin, acorn, sunflower, owl, corn, and pie.
The pages have been designed with young emergent readers and writers in mind. Each page gives the child an opportunity to read a Fall word, trace the Fall word, write the word in letter boxes, and to color the matching Fall picture. As they practice tracing and boxing the Fall words, students are developing correct letter formation skills for writing. The matching pictures build confidence in young readers as they read their Fall booklets.
Once children are finished writing and coloring their selected pages, staple the pages with the cover and they will have their very own My Book of Fall Words that they can read over and over.
This Fall activity is ideal for inclusion in a literacy center.
