Free Number of the Day Mats

A number of the day routine is one of the highest-leverage habits you can build in kindergarten. It takes only a few minutes, requires no prep once the mats are in students’ hands, and quietly builds fluency across every number sense skill you are working on.

These free mats gives students a structured space to represent any number in multiple ways: the numeral, the number word, a ten frame, tally marks, finger counting, a domino, odd or even, and placement on a number line. 

Two versions are included covering numbers 1-10 and numbers to 20.

Use it as a morning work activity, a math warm-up, or a transition task between parts of your day. Laminate a class set and students can use dry-erase markers to reuse them all year.
